The first half of 2019 was one of the busiest since the introduction of the Express Entry system in 2015. A total of 41,800 invitations was issued to apply for permanent residence, after the Immigration, Refugees, Citizenship Canada had held 13 draws over the first 6 months.

In 2021 they are expecting to achieve the target of 160,100 new permanent residences under Canada's multi-year immigration levels plan.
