Planning to bring your parents or grandparents to Canada?
Then this news is perfect for you.
Starting today, October 13, 2020, the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada will be opening the Parents and Grandparents Program (PGP) 2020.
This program allows Canadian citizens and permanent residents to submit their interest to sponsor their parents and grandparents to come to Canada. The Parents and Grandparents Program is part of the government of Canada’s commitment to reunite families.
Who is eligible to apply for the Parents and Grandparents Program (PGP)?
You can sponsor your own parents and grandparents if:
• you’re at least 18-years-old
• you live in Canada
• you’re a Canadian citizen, a permanent resident of Canada, or a person registered in Canada as an Indian under the Canadian Indian Act.
• To show that you have enough, you’ll have to provide your proof of income.
What is the initial step to apply?
After checking if you are eligible to partake in this program, you will then need to submit your interest to sponsor. The Visa Center offers to guide you throughout the process of proper documentation within the approved Canadian government timeframe.
Potential sponsors can only indicate their interest starting today October 13, 2020, until 12 p.m. EST on November 3, 2020.
For the 2020 Parents and Grandparents Program, a random selection process will be used to ensure that the process is fair and transparent, and that all interested sponsors have an equal opportunity to submit an interest to sponsor form and an equal chance of being invited to apply.
Once the selection process is over, the IRCC will send out 10,000 invitations to qualified sponsors. Note that the invitations issued by IRCC will not transferable to another sponsor.
The Visa Center offers to assist you from checking your eligibility (get FREE eligibility check by clicking HERE) to helping you with process of application. Potential sponsors who are invited to apply will only be given 60 days to submit their complete application. In the event of delays in providing documentation due to service disruptions caused by COVID-19, IRCC may grant them a 90-day extension.
